What Georgia weather does to a roof
Atlanta roofs rarely fail from one big event alone. Heat, humidity, trees, and spring storms work on them year after year. Knowing which one you're dealing with helps you ask better questions.
Spring storms leave quiet damage
Hail can knock granules loose and bruise shingles without an obvious leak, and strong gusts can break the seal that holds shingle tabs down. Have the roof checked after a severe storm, even if nothing is dripping.
Summer ages shingles faster
Long, hot Georgia summers bake asphalt shingles, which can make them brittle, curled, or bare of granules sooner than in cooler climates. Good attic ventilation helps a roof reach its expected life.
Debris and shade hold water
Pine needles, oak leaves, and acorns clog valleys and gutters, and shaded, damp slopes grow algae and moss. Keeping the roof clear and drained prevents a lot of slow leaks and rot.

Questions, answered
Is this service free?
Yes. There's no cost to you to request help. Roofing contractors in our network pay for referrals. You only pay the company you hire, and you're never obligated to hire anyone.
Are you a roofing contractor?
No. We're an independent referral service. We pass your request to an independent, insured roofing contractor serving your area, and they contact you directly. Any estimate, contract, and work is between you and that company.
How fast will someone contact me?
For active leaks, the goal is a call back as soon as possible during business hours and promptly after hours. While you wait, catch drips, move belongings, turn off power to any wet light fixtures, and stay off the roof.
Does Georgia license roofing contractors?
Georgia does not issue a statewide license specifically for residential roofing. Many cities and counties require a local business license and permits for roofing work, and larger projects that go beyond roofing may require a state-licensed residential or general contractor. Always ask for proof of insurance and local licensing.
Will my homeowners insurance cover roof damage?
Sudden damage from hail, wind, or a falling tree is commonly covered. Wear and tear, age, and long-term leaks usually are not. Some Georgia policies have a separate wind or hail deductible. Check your policy and talk with your agent.
